IMBOLC

Imbolc is one of the four major fire festivals of the Pagan year, falling near the start of February and halfway between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. Many druids and other Pagans observe Imbolc as the festival of Brigid, the Irish patroness of the hearth-fire, poetry, and smithing. We celebrate the early signs of the return of the spring, including the beginning of the lambing season. Imbolc also coincides (not coincidentally!) with Groundhog Day, when ordinary Americans practice augury, taking an omen from the emergence of a rodent to determine how much longer winter will last.
